This DeLonghi Magnifica Start follows the philosophy of the famous 22.140.B, with slightly inferior materials. Its compact size hides generous containers:

• Bean container: 250 g with opaque lid protecting the beans
• Drip tray: 14 pucks with front access

Note: the absence of a sealing gasket on the bean container, combined with less noble materials, makes it the noisiest Magnifica in the DeLonghi range.

This coffee machine offers 4 beverages in total: espresso, coffee, filter coffee (a rather rare feature at this price) and Americano (espresso lengthened with hot water).

Customize your beverages according to your preferences: intensity on 3 levels, number of cups and cup length programmable. Temperature can also be adjusted on 3 levels via a key combination.

This DeLonghi espresso grinder features a 13-position steel grinder for fine grind adjustment. The ground coffee option remains easily accessible, handy for your occasional decafs. The FEB 2230.SB has a simple steam wand with black ABS coating.

The espresso produced by this machine is correct, but suffers from irregularity. It is in fact the least regular machine of all our tests, a particularity that distinguishes it from other DeLonghi models. Furthermore, the Magnifica Start tends to overconsume at maximum intensity, which can represent a significant coffee cost for lovers of strong beverages.
The filter coffee, a rather rare feature on entry-level machines, is made at low pressure to simulate the operation of a filter coffee maker. However, here again, irregularity affects the result, which presents bitterness. I recommend using the Americano button for your long coffees.

The steam wand of the DeLonghi Magnifica Start requires a bit of practice before achieving fine and creamy milk foam, but rest assured, the handling remains quite simple.

DeLonghi bean-to-cup espresso machine: easy maintenance

Maintenance of DeLonghi bean-to-cup coffee machines is very simple and essential to preserve the longevity of your appliance as well as the quality in the cup.

1. Filtration: the filter cartridge eliminates limescale particles but also purifies the taste of your water to avoid altering your extraction.
2. Descaling: despite using a cartridge, you will need to descale when the machine indicates it, in order to remove limescale.
3. Brew group cleaning: the brew unit is removable, you can rinse it under lukewarm water once a week.
4. Steam wand cleaning: remember to clean the steam wand after use with a suitable milk cleaner.
5. Tray cleaning: the drip trays (grounds container and wastewater tray) are dishwasher compatible.
