Retro design for a good espresso

Elektra developed the Nivola model to have a sleek machine with a 50s look, which pleased its creator, engineer Andrea Fregnan, so much. The Nivola model has a certain aesthetic charm, but above all many quality components that will allow it to extract espressos.

Thanks to the 57 mm single filters and the brass portafilter, the extraction approaches professional quality, you will be able to find the grind and the perfect dose to obtain a quality beverage, provided you pair it with an espresso grinder with this Nivola.

All features accessible on the front panel!

The Nivola machine is designed to be intuitive. To do this, Elektra placed all the controls on the front, via a chrome knob.

This knob allows you to activate or stop your extraction, but also to start the steam mode to enjoy the wand for making your milk foams.

This steam wand is made of ABS and designed to facilitate milk frothing, by air intake, it will inject steam and air into the pitcher, and your milk foam will be made in no time.

The Elektra Nivola espresso machine features a beautiful aluminum body, with a dome around the cup warmer in plexiglass. The grilles are made of non-corrosive stainless steel, the boiler and portafilter are brass, while the portafilter handle is authentic bakelite.

Indicator lights for clear information

The Nivola is also equipped with an indicator light that will indicate information such as low water or machine heating.

The water tank holds 1.5 liters, which allows for many extractions, and heating is done by a brass boiler whose main advantage is maintaining water at the ideal temperature while better resisting limescale effects.

We nevertheless recommend using filtered water or a filtration cartridge to extend your appliance's longevity and ensure optimal taste quality in the cup.

Points to consider : For this range level, a 58 mm group would have been desirable. The clock offers limited interest, a pressure gauge would have been a significant plus.

The specialist's verdict  : Elektra's Nivola represents an undeniable visual success for retro style enthusiasts. Performance-wise, extraction quality is there provided the paired grinder allows for adequate grinding. Despite its simplicity of use, single filters require fine grinding and exact dosing, but once mastered, it will fully meet your expectations. The steam wand is satisfactory but unsuitable for latte art: as an assisted wand, it produces easy-to-make but relatively dense milk foam. In my opinion, the quartz clock deserved to be replaced by a truly useful pressure gauge during extraction.
