What is a Turkish coffee pot?
The Turkish coffee pot, also called Cezve, is used to prepare Turkish coffees (also known as oriental coffee). It is one of the oldest coffee extraction techniques.
Unlike most other methods based on infusion, the Turkish coffee pot relies on decoction. The finely ground coffee (texture close to flour) dissolves in water brought to a boil with sugar (and spices according to recipes).
How to use the 8-cup Turkish coffee pot?
- Fill the Ilsa coffee pot
- with 8 cups of water
- Add 8 well-filled teaspoons of ground coffee (very finely)
- Add 8 teaspoons of powdered sugar
- Place the Cezve on the heat source
- Stir gently
- A foam will appear
- When the coffee boils, remove the coffee pot from the heat and distribute the foam into the cups, then return the coffee pot to the heat until a new cream appears.
- Repeat until your cups are filled (this will prevent excess grounds in the cups).
Let the coffee rest for about 1 minute before tasting :)
You can also add spices, cardamom or orange blossom at the beginning of preparation, in addition to sugar. If you have an induction cooktop, you can use this .
