This phrase well represents the mindset of the founders and employees of the "SCOP TI" Cooperative, who, after 1336 days of struggle (against their former employer Unilever: Anglo-Dutch multinational) to keep their jobs and preserve their factory in Gémenos, launched the "1336" tea and infusion brand.
All 1336 products are made in France, in the Gémenos factory near Marseille. 1336 is the emblem of both a historic struggle and a set of values that are central today: respect for workers, promoting partners and producers from the local territory.
One of the guiding principles of SCOP TI with its products is to rebuild the Provençal agricultural sector, decimated by the offshoring strategies carried out by large agri-food groups, and thus help small producers make a living from their crops. "We live in a region rich in plants and spices, we must revitalize these 'great gardens of Provence'." A beautiful example to follow :-)
The objective of SCOP TI and 1336? To produce beverages with 100% natural flavors of great quality. 1336 is the number of days that the standoff between the employees of the Fralib factory and the Anglo-Dutch multinational Unilever, the world's leading producer of ice cream and tea. Just a few kilometers from Marseille, employees fought to keep their jobs and preserve their factory in Gémenos, which was slated for closure. After making their voices heard all summer long, then the next, and the next again, and after 1336 days of exemplary mobilization, the former Fralib employees finally won by taking over the factory as SCOP TI (Société Coopérative Ouvrière Provençale de Thés et d'Infusions) and launching the tea and herbal infusion brand 1336.
This meaningful brand offers natural or flavored teas and herbal infusions, 100% natural. All are made in Gémenos near Marseille, to the gentle sound of cicadas by the cooperative's workers, passionate heirs to this incredible story.
