The SMEG retro design for a modern espresso machine.

The SMEG EGF03CREU espresso machine combines a concentration of technologies with a distinctive retro design, the result of collaboration with the deepdesign® studio of Matteo Bazzicalupo and Raffaella Mangiarotti.

This is a robust coffee machine, featuring a beautiful die-cast aluminium body and stainless steel finishes.

The integrated grinder is equipped with stainless steel conical burrs, ensuring homogeneous grinding that preserves all the coffee aromas.

The dual Thermoblock heating system (one dedicated to the coffee circuit and the other to the steam circuit), guarantees fast heat-up time and on-demand steam production.

Thanks to the 58 mm diameter portafilter and the steam wand, both in stainless steel, you can extract a good espresso and prepare milk-based drinks like a real barista.

In addition, the pressure gauge on the front allows you to monitor your extraction pressure.

Use and settings of the SMEG EGF03CREU espresso machine

The SMEG EGF03CREU comes with pressurised filters (to extract good coffee, even if your grind is not perfect) and single filters (to learn how to make espresso properly by experimenting with different grind degrees, coffee dose and pressure).

This manual espresso machine offers you the possibility to personalise your drinks according to your taste.

- You can directly choose between two preset grinding options to prepare a single or double espresso.

- The grind fineness adjustment is simple, by turning the hopper to reach the desired notch: from 0 (superfine) to 15 (medium grind).

- The hopper has a capacity of 250 g of coffee beans. It detaches easily to facilitate cleaning.

- In the settings, you can choose your pre-infusion preferred from 4 available profiles (short, standard, long, progressive pre-infusion) and adjust 4 temperature levels.

The stainless steel steam wand features a rubber protection to prevent burns.

To produce steam and create milk foam, you have 2 steam intensity levels, depending on the desired milk-based drink.

You can also draw hot water via the steam wand.

The water tank of the SMEG EGF03CREU coffee machine offers a generous capacity of 2.4 L.

After 10 minutes without use, the machine enters energy-saving mode. The standby duration is adjustable.

Visual alerts notify you of any needs (low water level, descaling, etc.)

The SMEG EGF03CREU features a passive stainless steel cup warmer as well as a small hidden drawer behind the drip tray, to store your accessories.

Accessories and maintenance.

The SMEG EGF03CREU espresso machine comes with a complete set of accessories: a stainless steel two-spout portafilter, a pressurized single cup filter, a pressurized two cup filter, a single cup non-pressurized filter, a two cup non-pressurized filter, a 58 mm stainless steel tamper, a cleaning brush, a silicone disc for group maintenance, a stainless steel milk pitcher.

The filter cartridge is not included. To filter water, you will need to purchase this SMEG cartridge.

The silicone disc allows you to perform a backflush (deep cleaning).

SMEG recommends using specific cleaning tablets for domestic coffee machines, as well as a suitable descaler for descaling.
